Pandeiro Brasileiro Volume 1'' was born out of the authors' desire to write, transmit and disseminate Brazilian rhythms. In addition to the rhythms, the book contains a number of exercises to facilitate the learner's technical improvement with the instrument. The varied exercises are: Triplets, accents, fingertip and palm variations, and studies of the drumroll (drum roll on the pandeiro), which can be initiated either with the fingertips or with the thumb/palm. Rhythms covered in the book include: Samba/Choro, Baião, Maracatu, Capoeira and Frevo. A generous sampling of Brazil's great rhythmic diversity including compound and irregular rhythms, some of which are not very common in the use of the pandeiro. This allows the student to develop their playing on the instrument and learn to listen and play beyond what they are used to. The textbook has simplified notation so that even students with low musical abilities can easily access it.
