The repique de mão is the virtuoso whirlwind in every Pagode round. Musically it may not be a must, but it is always a great enrichment. It brings its very own vibes to a Samba de Mesa and is usually played by experienced players who have Samba in their blood and use the syncopations with great creativity. The repique de mão drives the rhythm and brings an incredible swing to the music, which is mainly created by the contrarhythms that are played with one hand on the outside of the shell. The instrument is played across the lap, basically like a rebolo or tan tan, except that it is shorter and has a plastic skin. You play the typical partido alto rhythms with one hand and complementary rhythms with the other. The musical construct is highly percussive and as Brazilian as it gets - many of the syncopated beats are placed off- and double-offbeat. The resulting swing will never let you go again - you‘’ll want to jump up and dance along immediately!
The Linha Brazil color line is a tribute to the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil. Gope incorporated this vibrant design into their instrument range to celebrate the spirit and culture of the event.

GOPE is a family-run business from the area around São Paulo. Today the company is being run in its third generation by the grand daughter of the firm´s founder.
The brand GOPE has been producing drums and smallpercussion instruments for over 50 years now. When the company was founded, there was already a small workshop in which drumsets were manufactured.
In 1962, the production of the typical Samba instruments began, iniciated by Humberto Rodella, the son of the founder. The company kept growing and after several relocations in São Paulo, GOPE finally found the right place for building a large production hall in Embu Guaçu, a suburb of São Paulo.
Since then GOPE produces in Embu Guaçu everything from the Agogô to the Zabumba, a wide range of percussion instruments, and only recently also various wind instruments.
GOPE has always kept in close touch with the musicians. The ideas and proposals for modifications that they received from many of those contacts, have always had much influence in the development of new instruments and improvement of production.
