Surdo Axé 16'' x 43 cm - short surdo for Samba Reggae and Bahia styles
In the last couple of years the short surdos have become more and more popular in Brazil and in Europe. You used to see them only in a few of Salvador´s blocos like e.g. Timbalada or Ilé Aiyê. Being shorter than other surdo types, they produce the typical dry Samba Reggae and Afro Samba sounds with short sustain and of course they also are lighter.
The Light series by Contemporanea is a slightly lighter version compared to their Pro series. The shell material is thinner, the stabilty of the rims is achieved by creasing the metall, additional reinforcements are reduced or left out in order to save weight. A simple instrument with good sound and no special features!
Typical Contemporanea Light: The shell is made of brushed aluminium, the hardware is varnished.

The instruments of the LIGHT line are made of matt aluminium and are simple in their style. This way some working processes aren´t necessary and the drums can be offered at a more advantageous price. Sound and durability maintains in the well known CONTEMPORÂNEA quality.
The PRO line as well as the LIGHT line are made of thick aluminium sheet, which provides a massive sound to repinique, caixa and surdo.

Das Instrument tut was es soll nur klingt es mit dem Standartfell arg grell und billig.
Mit nem Timbra bespannt ist sie einstzbar.
Ich würde mir keine Trommel mehr aus dem light Programm bestellen.
Glücklicherweise hat Kalamgo ja noch bessere Instrumente im Programm
Lieber Kunde, danke für das Feedback. Keine Trommel kommt mit dem perfekten Sound aus dem Karton. Besonders Nylonfelle brauchen Zeit, um sich zu dehnen und zu setzen. Die 16" Größe wird gewöhnlich mit dünnen Nylonfellen gespielt, denn Obertöne sind bei den hohen Stimmen gewünscht. Du hast Recht - ein dickes Fell dämmt die Vibration und einige Blocos in Salvador dämmen ihre Surdos sogar zusätzlich von innen mit Schaumstoffringen. Den Sound Deiner Surdo aus dem Karton heraus würde ich daher nicht kategorisch ablehnen, denn mit etwas Know-how, Zeit und guter Stimmung kriegst Du aus jeder Trommel guten Sound :) Meld Dich gerne falls Du hier noch Tipps oder Hilfe brauchst! lg, Chrissy
