Surdo 20'' x 50 cm - medium high size
The medium sized surdos are getting more and more popular amongst Rio´s Samba schools as they have shorter shells, weigh less and are handier to play.
The Light series by Contemporanea is slightly lighter as their Pro series - you may have guessed. The shell material is thinner, the stabilty of the rims is achieved by creasing the metall additional reinforcements are reduced or left out in order to save weight. A good instrument without any special features!
Typical Contemporanea Light: The shell is made of brushed aluminium, the hardware is varnished.

The PRO line as well as the LIGHT line are made of thick aluminium sheet, which provides a massive sound to repinique, caixa and surdo.
