Spare jingle for Ivsom Rocar
Spare jingle combination for wood stick Mocidade rocars - for hardcore players! If you play and practise a lot of Samba, you will sooner or later notice that the holes in your jingles get bigger and the jingles get little cracks around the hole in the middle. The abrasion occurs due to the constant shaking movement and initially does not affect your instrument. But after a while, you will hear that the sound changes. Especially when playing stops and breaks, the jingles with enlarged middle holes will produce a reverberant sound. This is typical for zinc sheet jingles which sambistas like to choose for their authentic dry Rio style sound, nevertheless, this type of metal reacts with abrasion. If you notice any visible or audible changes, it might be time to renew your jingles. With this spare part jingle combinations it is a child's play - take the screws out of the wood stick, replace the screws and the jingles - all done. You will be amazed about the improvement of the sound! For Ivsom Mocidade rocars!!

DEAL | Surdo Beater RIO Médio black
Original Rio style Samba beaters - perfect for hide heads - medium sized, allrounder!Hard beaters with only very little padding get the richest sound out of hide heads. The heartbeat of your bateria comes from the bass corners - the surdos de marcação, whilst the rhythmic 'ornaments' and syncopations are played by the terceira. This beater has a medium size which you may use for any of those sizes. Sambistas with smaller hands might find this size more comfortable than the large Marcação mallets, respectively for some people the regular terceira beater size is too small. The Médio beater has a medium large, unpadded head and semi-long hard-wood handle.Ideal as:surdo beater for the voices of surdo de primeira and surdo de segunda and also the terceira voice in Rio style Samba. The long hard-wood handle and hard head help produce rich bass tones on hide heads. Please remember:This type of beater should only be used on hide heads (animal skins). Heads made from nylon, korino (nappa), vintage or similar types of surdo heads will suffer dents or might even break.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Frigideira Inox with beater inox
Frigideira - special effect for Rio Samba bateriasA frying pan played with a special stick? The frigideira is quite an extraordinary instrument! Give your bateria the ultimate kick! With the small pan sized for a single fried egg you can occasionally add a light, penetrant and tinkling sound effect to your bateria. The pan is convex-shaped on its base, like this it is easier to play the typical playing technique, which is similar to playing the turning technique on a tamborim. You turn the little pan back and forth and make contra movements with a stick which has a hard tip. Usually, telecoteco variations are played. The technique is quite unique and needs lots of practice to play tight, especially as the sound is very dominant. Guaranteed fun effect and you will be the highlight of your bateria! In any case an eye- and ear catcher!Comes with a nylon stick and a metal tip!

Repinique Mor 14''x50cm
Ivsom

Average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars

Repinique Mor 14''x50cm
Repique Mor 14'' x 50 cmColloquially called the 'thick cigar' (charuto), the 14'' repique mor is more of a loner in Europe, whilst in a Rio Samba bateria you might see several of them played together. It has a 14'' diameter and also a higher shell, so it is two inches bigger than a regular 12'' repinique. The playing technique is pretty much the same. The charuto´s sound is deep and not as dingling as a normal repinique. Played well it brings a totally beautiful soundscape to your bateria. The sound is somewhere between a repinique and a high pitched surdo, an absolutely unique frequency which comes through especially when playing calls and solo parts in the bateria.Stylish repique mor and typical IVSOM design with yellow galvanised hardware.Beautiful instrument with a present sound. The solid aluminium shell as well as all technical details are in well-established IVSOM quality. The tension rods are screwed down flush with the fittings in the ring. Smoothed out rims for ideal skin fitting, tension hoops, threads etc. are neatly manufactured. Amongst others, IVSOM provides the sambaschool Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel in Rio de Janeiro with his instruments. Caixa de Guerra 12''x17cm snare wires+strings

Average rating of 0 out of 5 stars

Caixa de Guerra 12''x17cm snare wires+strings
Brand new from Rio´s special request Samba kitchen:The caixa de guerra 12'' x 17cm with strings and snare wires!Standard version with stringed batter head and snare wires on the resonance head. A really flexible instrument for Rio style baterias, especially if you only have a few caixas in your group. If you only have 1-3 caixa players, the sound is often quite thin. With a double string caixa and its snare wire feature a new sound spectrum appears, supporting the white sound effect. Experiment in different sound directions and find out which is the best 'molho' (juicyness of sound) for your group:Batter head - resonance: This combination contains more snare wire character, the caixa ís not tuned as high as standard caixas, yet more density of white sound sppears - juicy!Batter head - batter head: Try changing the resonance head for a normal nylon head. You can pitch up the caixa to the typical high Rio style level to have a dryer sound with more string than snare wires - fat sound!

Caixa de Guerra 12''x17cm double stringed
Double stringed 12'' x 17cm caixa by IVSOMRio style caixa players listen up:Twice as many strings for twice as much sound! This beauty has 6 strings on the batter side and 6 more strings on the inside of the resonance head. The strings on the inside of the resonance head have a muffling effect, producing a massive dry sound. The snare-sound is simply doubled!Double stringed - double sound! An aspect for fine ears: often the typical Rio-style caixas have an annoying overtone, which automatically appears when you start playing the instrument. The double stringed caixa intuitively sounds more muffled due to the strings strapped to both heads. With this, disturbing side effects have no chance. The caixa sounds super dry, just the tone we´re searching for for a Rio style bateria. By the way, this caixa even sounds great if it is not pitched too high!Obvious fact is - this is a Rio Style caixa with massive and super sound! Samba trend and design by IVSOM for XL-sound!

Often, different patterns are played on a tarol. This one has an exceptional sound, especially if you go for a high tuning. Due to its shorter shell is has less sustain than caixas with higher bodies. The yellow galvanised hardware is a typical Ivsom thing, a very stylish drum!

On one side, the repinique sounds like a totally normal repinique with some background caixa white noise. Turn the hybrid repinique around and play on the side of the strings - it will sound like an amplified caixa! The high shell enlargens the volume of the resonance body, so you get more sound volume, too and add a good portion of caixa crispiness to it!

Repinique 12''x27cm steel sheet
Ivsom

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Repinique 12''x27cm steel sheet
Repinique 12'' x 30 cm - galvanised steel sheet, IvsomSteel sheet instruments are the classical old school type of Samba instruments. They are not particularly pretty but have an amazing sound. The material is simple - galvanised steel sheet with no extras, plain and compressed sound power for Rio sambistas and also Samba Reggae players. 6 rods are the standard for Rio Samba, if you play with the rods up, you 'll have enough space for your hand inbetween. The typical sound of steel sheet instruments is somewhat rough, voluminous, powerful and makes crispy calls and tinkling rimshots a real pleasure. Steel sheet weighs more than aluminium or inox but makes up for it with incredible sound. Steel sheet drums won't win a beauty contest - although having nice Ivsom details - the surface will loose its gloss with the time and will turn matt. Steel sheet is also cheaper than aluminium, you'll get every penny worth with this repinique.A classic!

Furacaixa 12''x17cm
Ivsom

Average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars

Furacaixa 12''x17cm
Furacaixa 12'' x 17cm - the caixa with resonance holes A perforated shell? A caixa with holes? After the caixa vazada (the bodyless caixa), Ivsom has developed another spectacular instrument that not only impresses with a witty look but also with a top-quality sound. Due to the perforations, the furacaixa has an open sound similar to the caixa vazada. On the one side, the holes function as amplifier, so the caixa sounds really loud, and on the other hand like a monitor, you hear yourself playing in a bateria a lot better. The rims on the caixa have a strong shell sound just like normal caixas. Another real treat for caixas players, especially for those who like to play em cima (above). The furacaixa sound has the typical Ivsom-style dry and crispy sound and extremely little sustain. Like all Ivsom instruments, the lugs are screwed flush into the brackets of the rim. All important details such as the rim on which the head sits on, the string bed, rims, threads etc. are well manufactured and easy to handle (no squeaking!). The hardware is galvanized (yellow). IVSOM, among other supplier, builds instruments for the Samba school of Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel in Rio de Janeiro. As a mechanic and caixa player himself, the producer has the ideal skills to build high quality Samba drums.

Repique de Anel 12''x27cm
Ivsom

Average rating of 0 out of 5 stars

Repique de Anel 12''x27cm
12'' Repique de Anel -  aluminium shell with hide heads on both sides and white hardware elementsAnel means ring. The repique de anel is a hand drum which you'll see in Pagode groups. The drum has skins on both sides, is also played on both sides and - as the name indicates - a ring for creating effects on the shell is often used. Quite similar to the repique de mão, contrarhythms are played on the outer shell. If you wear a ring, they sound sharper and especially pretty. Some people also stick coins or metal pieces directly on the outside of the shell with some tape. The rattling creates some great effects while playing the contrarhythms with one hand. You can find the repique de anel in Pagodes as well as Samba stage gigs, any kind of Samba de mesa and even in Samba Pop.

Hide head 18''
Ivsom

Average rating of 0 out of 5 stars

Hide head 18''
Head 18'' hide head (natural skin) - aluminium rimInformation about mounting hide heads:Natural heads tend to twist when they are unmounted due to different air humidity and temperature. When you are ready to put the head on your instrument and see that it is twisted, moisten (not soak!) the head carefully with a kitchen sponge, then put it on a flat surface and push the drum shell in the rim from above. Put your drum loosely back together and wait until the head is dry before putting any tension on it. Let it dry slowly in the air (best overnight), don't use heaters, hairdryers and don't leave it in the sun as it will make the head brittle and prone to tear.Information for hide heads on aluminium rims:Natural heads tend to twist when unmounted, especially with when temperature and humidity changes. This can happen as well with heads on wood rims as with skins in aluminium rims. The aluminium hoops are grouted in a way that leaves a small open joint gap. This is not a defect nor a broken seam, but a tiny tolerance which is there on purpose so that the head can expand or tighten without damaging the hoop or the head when air moisture changes. If you have received a twisted head with an open gap on the aluminium rim, then that is quite normal and with only a few steps the head will easily fit on your instrument shell: Slightly moisten the head, wait a couple of minutes, then fit it on the shell and put your instrument back together loosely. Only put tension on the head once it has dried completely and in a natural way; this will usually take overnight. As soon as there is tension on the head, wrinkles and the twist will disappear and the head will easily adjust to the shape of the instrument shell. If you have any questions about mounting a head, please contact us.Purchasing replacement heads:If you are buying a replacement head for your instrument, we advise that you get a head from the same brand as your instrument as they should fit without any trouble. If you buy a head from a different brand, you might find that the fit slightly differs or even doesn't go on the shell well or at all. Please understand that we cannot offer warranty in this case.

Cuica gambito bamboo stick with string
Ivsom

Average rating of 0 out of 5 stars

Cuica gambito bamboo stick with string
Gambito with string for cuica Your cuica stick broke? Never mind, you can exchange it!Take the cuica skin with the broken stick off the shell, wetten the cuica skin in the middle until it get´s soft, then carefully open the knot with which the gambito is tied in and take out the leftovers of the stick.Carefully sand down the new gambito a little bit with fine sandpaper depending on how thin you like to play it. The thinner the stick, the nicer your cuica skin will respond, but the stick will also get more fragile. Then place the gambito in the middle of the soaked skin and tie a new knot. The skin has to be really wet and soft in the middle, otherwise you won´t be able to put in the new stick. The best is, you get somebody to help you. One person can hold the gambito and the skin, while the other can tie a tight knot. With a bit of practice you´ll soon get the hang of it! Tipp:The cuica skin with the new gambito will need at least over night to dry (important! don´t use hairdryer, heating or sun to dry the head as it will get brittle and tear), therefore cuiqueiros usually take a spare head with a tied-in stick with them. If it does happen, that your gambito breaks during a gig, you are prepared and just put on your spare cuica head. Then you have time to change the broken gambito and until the next day your new 'exchange' head will be dry and ready again.

Repinique Vazado 12''x27cm
Ivsom

Average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars

Repinique Vazado 12''x27cm
Repinique vazado 12'' x 27,5 cm - the repinique with no shell!A version of the repinique that caused a furore in the Samba schools: drums without a shell!A flat iron frame creates the illusion of a closed corpus and produces a sensationally different sound: tremendously loud and direct, without the restriction of an aluminium body. As with all IVSOM instruments, the tension rods are screwed down flush with the fittings in the ring. All important details such as smoothed out rims for ideal skin fitting, tension hoops etc. are neatly manufactured in the usual good quality manner we are used to by IVSOM.IVSOM is one of the main suppliers of the Samba school Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel in Rio de Janeiro. Being both a sambista and a mechanic, he knows exactly what it needs to make good samba instruments!

Repinique Mor 16''x50cm
Ivsom

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Repinique Mor 16''x50cm
Repique Mor 16'' x 50 cmWith its 16 inches, the repique mor has a much larger diameter than regular sized repiniques, its tone is correspondingly lower which makes it stand out from the other frequencies in a bateria. It is played like a normal repinique, whereby there are special patterns that are assigned to it. Its tone is low and not as ringing and penetrant as the smaller repinique sizes. Well played, it brings a rich, fat sound base into a Rio style bateria, its sound is quite a unique frequency, which is especially effective with calls and solos.Stylish and in typical Ivsom look with yellow galvanised hardware. Beautiful instrument with powerful sound. Well manufactured aluminium shell and with the typical technical details of Ivsom instruments: the tension rods are screwed flush in the brackets of the rim. Smoothed out rims for ideal skin fitting, tension hoops, threads etc. are neatly manufactured.Amongst others, Ivsom provides the sambaschool Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel in Rio de Janeiro with his instruments. Being a mechanic and a sambista himself, he has ideal knowledge and abilities for building high quality Samba instruments.

Reco Reco aluminium 3 springs
Ivsom

Average rating of 0 out of 5 stars

Reco Reco aluminium 3 springs
RecoReco with 3 springs - Ivsom An authentic Rio-style reco reco from Rio. If you have ever seen a typical live Pagode in Rio, you will remember the sound of the reco reco - dry, sharp, dirty and a bit like a not-so-loud caixa - this is exactly what the small instrument by Ivsom sounds like. It is quite common to muffle the reco reco with some tape on one or even on both sides to create as little sustain as possible. You can also muffle it just with your thumb. A very versatile and handy instrument that fits in any bag and is played with a thin metall stick similar to a guiro!

Hide head 20''
Ivsom

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Hide head 20''
Head 20'' goat skin - aluminium rim - IVSOMInformation about mounting hide heads:Natural heads tend to twist when they are unmounted due to different air humidity and temperature.

Repicaixa vazada 12''x28cm

Flip the hybrid repinique over to make it sound like an amplified caixa. The longer shell increases the volume of the resonance body, so you have a larger sound volume and a lot more punch in the sound!
