The tan tan is the lowest bass drum in Samba de Mesa and replaces the surdo. This model has a compact 12'' diameter with a slightly conical shell and a long resonance body. The shell is rather thin-walled, the sound is not quite as heavy as with 14'' instruments. We think it's a fancy little thing!
