Korino head 20'' by Contemporanea: Nappa or korino heads are multi-ply synthetic layers of artificial leather and nylon and sound warm and bassy. This construction reacts quite sensitive to beaters which are too hard. The head will break if you use beaters with too little padding. We recommend that for korino heads you use only soft or medium beaters with plenty of padding.
Fibreglass coated 14'' supernylon superior head for charuto / repique mor, surdo or timbal - ContemporâneaDurable, strong, thick drum head with rich mids; fibreglass coating filters out unwanted overtones. Supernylon heads are made of a foil 32% times thicker than standard heads and have a special fibreglass coating on the underside producing a specific sound characteristic: reduced overtones, amplified mids, powerful sound. Super nylon heads are also particularly durable. Super nylon heads are always meant to be superior heads (batter heads), as they vibrate less due to their thick foil and their coating and they are therefore not suitable as resonance heads.Good to know:Give your head some time to settle! You will notice that there is a lot of strange sounds going on when you put on a new head. At first, a new drum head might sound a bit squeaky, until it gets used to the tension and the rim, it will stretch and eventually settle nicely onto the rim and into the hardware. In short - give it some time! A new head needs a few rehearsals until it sounds really good. A super nylon head is suitable for you if you like rich, strong and overtone-poor sound and you are looking for an especially durable head.
Inverted korino head 22'' by Timbra:A nappa head with a new concept! The artificial nappa skin is on the inside of a double-layered head, the white nylon head is on top. The sound has more volume and a fuller bass, the beat stays clear and accentuated. Until recently the typical full sound of korino heads was only possible by missing out the defined 'attack'. This new head from Timbra has both: a deep impressive bass and a clear beat! Nappa or korino heads are multi-ply synthetic layers of artificial leather and nylon. This construction reacts quite sensitive to beaters which are too hard. The head will brake if you use beaters with too little padding. We recommend that for korino heads you use only soft or medium beaters with plenty of padding.
Single-layered 14“ nylon head by Contemporânea for charuto, caixa (superior- and resonance head), snare (superior head), timbal, small surdo
A simple one-layer nylon head, easy to play and a standard drum head type by Contemporânea - this thinner version of drum heads is extremely responsive with a clean and clear intentionally overtone-rich sound, as thinner heads produce stronger vibration compared to thicker heads. A thin nylon head might be a great option for you if you like clean sound and if you are looking for an easy-to-play head.A good option e.g. for timbal players whose technique is still not so experienced as the head reacts fast and easy. You can also use it as a regular batter head or also as a resonance head on a Samba Reggae snare drum, and it goes perfectly as superior and/or resonance head on a charuto (14'' repinique). Even for small 14'' surdos, this head is a common option.
You will notice that between putting a new head on and playing on it for a while the sound will change positively. A new head might sound a bit whiny in the beginning, but as soon as it gets used to the tension and the rim of the shell, the sound will settle. As usual - good things are worth waiting for. A thin nylon head is suitable for you if you like the clear and light sound and if you want a head with an easy response.
14“ P3 head (P3 - 250 Micron: 0,25mm) - IZZO Thick or thin?P3 heads are thicker (P2='grossa'; P3='supergrossa') than P2 heads, which is why they sound more saturated, they have less overtones and transmit an almost matt tone because they vibrate less than a thin head. The thickness of a head has only little influence in how long it may last. A thicker head might last a few gigs longer, but the difference is probably not to be mentioned. Resonance head or batter head?P3 heads are ideal batter heads. Combine a P3 batter head on your charuto or surdo de mor with a P2 resonance head. It is also a good option for timbal heads. 14'' caixas or snare drums sometimes prefer the coated version and the really thin resonance head instead of a P2.Take some time:The life career of a head begins with the moment you put it on your drum for the first time. Each time you tune it, the head will fit itself more comfortably onto the rim of shell being the base for the head. Also in terms of sound, time has an effect on every head. New heads often sound a bit whiny when freshly fitted onto the drum. But after a short break-in time and regular playing, the sound will quickly improve. A new head also will lift the rim higher. Each time you tune your drum, the head will sit itself lower down on the base and the rim can settle. In short:New head - high rim, whiny sound. After a break-in time - low rim, nice sound.

Head 14'' goat skin - aluminium rimHide head for surdo, alfaia, rebolo, tantanInformation about mounting hide heads:Natural heads tend to twist when they are unmounted due to different air humidity and temperature. When you are ready to put the head on your instrument and see that it is twisted, moisten (not soak!) the head carefully with a kitchen sponge, then put it on a flat surface and push the drum shell in the rim from above. Put your drum loosely back together and wait until the head is dry before putting any tension on it. Let it dry slowly in the air (best overnight), don't use heaters, hairdryers and don't leave it in the sun as it will make the head brittle and prone to tear.Information for hide heads on aluminium rims:Natural heads tend to twist when unmounted, especially with when temperature and humidity changes. This can happen as well with heads on wood rims as with skins in aluminium rims. The aluminium hoops are grouted in a way that leaves a small open joint gap. This is not a defect nor a broken seam, but a tiny tolerance which is there on purpose so that the head can expand or tighten without damaging the hoop or the head when air moisture changes. If you have received a twisted head with an open gap on the aluminium rim, then that is quite normal and with only a few steps the head will easily fit on your instrument shell: Slightly moisten the head, wait a couple of minutes, then fit it on the shell and put your instrument back together loosely. Only put tension on the head once it has dried completely and in a natural way; this will usually take overnight. As soon as there is tension on the head, wrinkles and the twist will disappear and the head will easily adjust to the shape of the instrument shell. If you have any questions about mounting a head, please contact us.Purchasing replacement heads:If you are buying a replacement head for your instrument, we advise that you get a head from the same brand as your instrument as they should fit without any trouble. If you buy a head from a different brand, you might find that the fit slightly differs or even doesn't go on the shell well or at all. Please understand that we cannot offer warranty in this case.

24'' hide head on aluminium ringImportant information for fitting natural goatskin heads:Natural skins tend to twist when unmounted since the manufacturers moisten them before pulling them onto a wooden or aluminium rim. When drying off, the ring naturally deshapes a little. When leaving the high humidity in Brazil and arriving to our dry European climate with low humidity and room heating, the skin twists even more. This is a normal irregularity of natural products and no damage! You can easily fit the head on your drum by moistening (not soaking!) the inner part - not the ring - carefully with a regular kitchen sponge or cloth. Pull it over the drum shell and let it dry slowly overnight by air. Don´t force it by using a heater or hairdryer or exposing it to the sun, this will only make the head brittle and prone to tear. Like this, you will be able to enjoy your goat skin head for a long time!Information for hide heads on aluminium rims:Natural heads tend to twist when unmounted, especially with when temperature and humidity changes. 24“ P2 surdo head (P2 - 190 micron: 0,19mm) - IZZO
Thin or thick?P2 heads are thinner (P2='grossa'; P3='supergrossa') than P3 heads, which is why they sound lighter, they have more overtones and transmit sound easier because they vibrate stronger than a thick head. The thickness of a head has only little influence in how long it may last. Some percussionists play a thin head just as long as a thicker one. 24'' heads of this type also have stronger aluminium rims for higher durability and a better stability.
Resonance head or batter head? You can use P2 heads for both. They are suitable for batter- or resonance sides your surdo.
Take some time:The life career of a head begins with the moment you put it on your drum for the first time.
P3 head for 18'' surdo (P3 - 250 Micron: 0,25mm) - IZZO
Thick or thin?P3 heads are thicker (P2='grossa'; P3='supergrossa') than P2 heads, which is why they sound more saturated, they have less overtones and transmit an almost matt tone because they vibrate less than a thin head. The thickness of a head has only little influence in how long it may last. A thicker head might last a few gigs longer, but the difference is probably not to be mentioned.
Resonance head or batter head?P3 heads are ideally used as batter heads. You can combine a P3 batter head perfectly with a P2 resonance head.

Korino Head 12'' by Izzo – perfect for rebolos and tan tansThe 12'' Korino head by Izzo is made from double-ply synthetic materials - artificial nappa leather and nylon. This construction delivers a warm, bassy sound and is especially popular for hand drums like rebolos and tan tans.Important: Korino heads are sensitive to hard beaters. Using beaters with insufficient padding can cause permanent dents in the head, affecting its sound quality. We strongly recommend using only soft beaters with plenty of padding to ensure the head's durability and achieve the best possible sound. The 12'' Korino head is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a warm sound and reliable drumhead for their Rebolo or Tan Tan.
20'' korino head by IZZO:Nappa or korino heads are multi-ply synthetic layers of artificial leather and nylon. This construction reacts quite sensitive to beaters which are too hard. The head will break if you use beaters with too little padding. We recommend that for korino heads you use only soft or medium beaters with plenty of padding.

20“ nylon head / single-layered surdo head by Contemporânea The standard-type single-layered 20'' nylon heads from Contemporânea are classical and very responsive surdo heads with a high vibration behaviour, clear and light sound spectrum which can conveniently be used on both surdo sides as superior and/or resonance head. The thickness of your surdo head contributes significantly to the general sound characteristics of your instrument, therefore it is important to know what sound you like and are looking to achieve, and how your surdo shell reacts in combination with the head. 20'' surdos usually play a low bass voice, if you are looking for a light sound with much sustain and overtones, a single-layered head is a good choice. Single-layered nylon heads are very responsive and intentionally overtone-based, if you feel you'd like a bit less, you can easily muffle the head with some tape; single-layered nylon heads are durable, weatherproof and can be used on both sides as batter or resonance head on a surdo - all good reasons why this type of head is so very popular. Single-layered nylon heads are the thinner standard version by Contemporânea and are very responsive with a clear, light sound and intentionally rich in overtones due to their vibrating stronger than thicker heads. You will notice that a while after putting on a new head on your surdo, the sound will change positively. A new head will usually sound a bit whiny in the beginning, it needs to find its 'groove' first. As soon as it gets used to the tension, the rim of the shell and to being played regularly, the sound will settle nicely. As usual - good things are worth waiting for. A thin nylon head is suitable for you if you like the clear and light sound and if you want a head with an easy response.

Nappa or korino heads are multi-ply synthetic layers of artificial leather and nylon. This construction reacts quite sensitive to beaters which are too hard. The head will brake if you use beaters with too little padding. We recommend that for korino heads you use only beaters with plenty of padding.Attention: the color of the nappa can come in red, blue or black. But since the color is facing down inside the drum, it is irrelevant. The visible part is the white nylon head.

18“ hydraulic head - double ply oil head - batter head
Due to their thickness and sound characteristics, heads with two plies naturally only function as batter heads. This head type is especially popular amongst drummers and sambistas who like fat sounds with a slow attack and a fast decay. The short, almost non-existant sustain is the result of the double layer of heads which don't vibrate easily and therefore provide a high amount of dampening behaviour. Between the two plies there is a special type of oil which influences the sound characteristics of the head even stronger and reduce the sustain to an absolute minimum. Thicker, double ply heads are also extremely durable.
This head will be interesting for you if you like the following sound characteristics:- warm, deep, punchy and short sounds- sustain: very little to none- overtones reduced to a minimum- quick decay (the dropout of the tone from its maximum to 0)- with surdo heads: nice and warm but not too resounding bass tones, short, fat and warm- slow attack, doesn't sound too sharp
Fibreglass coated 22'' Supernylon surdo batter head by Contemporânea
Fibreglass coated, thick tamborim head filters out unwanted overtones. Supernylon heads are made of a foil 32% times thicker than standard heads and have a special fibreglass coating on the underside producing a specific sound characteristic: reduced overtones, amplified mids, powerful sound. Super nylon heads are also particularly durable. Super nylon heads are always meant to be superior heads (batter heads), as they vibrate less due to their thick foil and their coating and they are therefore not suitable as resonance heads.Poor overtones, rich mids, durable, strong drum head.
Good to know:Give your head some time to settle!
P3 surdo head for 20'' surdos (P3 - 250 Micron: 0,25mm) - IZZO
Thick or thin?P3 heads are thicker (P2='grossa'; P3='supergrossa') than P2 heads, which is why they sound more saturated, they have less overtones and transmit an almost matt tone because they vibrate less than a thin head. The thickness of a head has only little influence in how long it may last. A thicker head might last a few gigs longer, but the difference is probably not to be mentioned. 20'' heads of this type also have stronger aluminium rims for higher durability and a better stability.
Resonance head or batter head?P3 heads are ideally used as batter heads. You can combine a P3 batter head perfectly with a P2 resonance head.

Slapklatz round damper gel pads - box with set of 10, colour: transparentSound control for your drums: Get control over unwanted overtones, muffle your surdo, reduce overtone frequences on your caixa and fine-tune the sound on any drum with a synthetic head. What is Slapklatz? Have you not sometimes wished to know a quick, easy and cheap method to muffle your drums and get a better sound? The handy little damper gel pads are a great solution! No more fiddling around with sticky gaffa tape and masking techniques. The pads are especially designed for drum heads, easy to put on and take off, reuse and clean. They minimise overtones, are autoadhesive, shorten unwanted sustain and thicken the vibration behaviour of your drum head. Ideal for surdo and caixa or snare, but basiscally for any drum with a synthetic head.
How to use:Take the pads you want to use from the box and place them on the edge of the batter head (the one you will be playing on). If you want to use several pads, place on on the opposite side of eachother on the edge of the head (not touching the rim).Larger gel pads muffle stronger. Several smaller pads have a more even effect than a single large one. Use on any instrument with a synthetic head, e.g. surdo, caixa / snare, repinique, pandeiro with nylon head, timbal, repique de mão. Try it out - if it sounds right, it is right!Care instructions:Rinse with some soap unter the tap.Weather:Rain will not affect the Slapklatz whilst you should avoid leaving the gel pads in direct sun or in hot places (sun-heated car, on a radiator) which will cause damage. The set has 10 gel pads: 6 x small, 2 x medium and 2 x large

Head 20'' goat skin - aluminium rim - IVSOMInformation about mounting hide heads:Natural heads tend to twist when they are unmounted due to different air humidity and temperature.

14'' korino head for surdo or tan tan
Especially bassy, warm sound with hardly any attack!Nappa / korino heads are multi-layered, superimposed plastic layers of imitation leather and nylon, which are especially popular on bassy Brazilian drums. A 14'' tan tan with a korino head will rock your Pagode session. A 14'' surdo is rather a small size, but even here you can create great sounds with warm basses.
Note:Too many korino heads in a band make the sound spongy as this type of head has hardly any attack. Our tip: less is more. Equip only a few of your surdos with korino heads and your sound will be top!
The multilayer construction of korino heads reacts sensitively to beaters that are too hard. If your mallet head is too hard, the top layer will bulge out, it will no longer lie flat on the bottom layer and cannot produce an even tone, the vibration is disturbed and the head will break. Therefore we recommend to use only soft and always well-padded mallets.

The foils are best suited for all single layer drum heads. How it worksWe send you the uncut foil prints in the sizes you order. The trim line is marked, simply cut out along the dotted line with normal scissors (the marking is always outside the print area), please also see our instruction video.Unscrew the nuts and remove the rim from the batter head, put the foil over the drumhead and mount the hardware back on again. The rim will hold the foil, so it doesn't slip.Tighten up the nuts and tune your surdo like you usually do - done! For which instruments are custom vinyl prints suitable for?You can use the vinyls on basically any instrument from 6'' to 24''. However, due to their sound features, the foils are particularly suitable for surdos, as the vinyl muffles the sound slightly, taking out unwanted overtones and producing warm, strong bass lines, similar to double-ply heads.Very suitable for surdos with normal single-layer nylon heads.Very well suited for surdos with natural skins (hide heads).Moderately suitable for korino, inverted korino heads and all types of double-ply heads (hydraulic etc.), as these heads are already double-ply. Adding a third layer might muffle the head too strong.Moderately suitable for coated heads such as supernylon or Dupont Nomex. The sound will appear very muffled as the head cannot vibrate sufficiently. If this is the sound feature you're looking for, go for it anyways :)Great option for full-surface printing on drum heads from size 6''-20''.Can also be used for smaller 6''-12'' diameter instruments. The sound will be slightly muffled and drier. If you prefer thinner heads soundwise, get your logo printed on our regular custom heads instead.Logo prints on vinyl sheets - especially suitable for surdosprintable surdo sizes: 14''-24''Full-surface print till 20'', i.e. printable all the way to the outer trim. Make sure that your main motifs stay in the inner area of the rim so that they are not covered by the tension ring when you mount the hardware on the vinyl.22'' and 24'' sizes have a limited print area, please see our data sheet for details. You design - we print!photo-realistic printsno ink abrasionfull-surface prints possible till 20''especially suitable for all single layer, uncoated drum headsalso suitable for natural skins / hide headseasy and quick to mountthe optical kick for your bateria - authentic look like in RioAll our custom samba print products are special custom-made items. Korino head 16'' by Contemporânea:Nappa or korino heads are multi-ply synthetic layers of artificial leather and nylon. This construction reacts quite sensitive to beaters which are too hard. The head will break if you use beaters with too little padding. We recommend that for korino heads you use only soft or medium beaters with plenty of padding.
24“ nylon head / single-layered surdo head by ContemporâneaThe single-layered 24'' standard nylon heads by Contemporânea are classic surdo heads with very responsive and high vibration behaviour, which clear and light sound spectrum can conveniently be used on both surdo sides (superior and/or resonance head). The thickness of your surdo head contributes significantly to the general sound characteristics of your instrument, therefore it is important to know what sound you like and are looking to achieve, and how your surdo shell reacts in combination with the head. 24'' surdos are pretty much king-size instruments and play the lowest bass lines in Samba styles, so if you are looking for a light but full, voluminous sound with much sustain and overtones, a single-layered head is a good choice.
Fibreglass coated 24'' Supernylon superior surdo head by ContemporâneaFibreglass coated, thick surdo head filters out unwanted overtones. Supernylon heads are made of a foil 32% times thicker than standard heads and have a special fibreglass coating on the underside producing a specific sound characteristic: reduced overtones, amplified mids, powerful sound. Super nylon heads are also particularly durable. Super nylon heads are always meant to be superior heads (batter heads), as they vibrate less due to their thick foil and their coating and they are therefore not suitable as resonance heads.Poor overtones, rich mids, durable, strong drum head.Good to know:Give your head some time to settle!
Head 16'' korino ( synthetic nappa leather) - GopeNappa or korino heads are multi-ply synthetic layers of artificial leather and nylon. The attack is reduced by the additional layer and the sound becomes warm and bassy. Too many korino heads in a bloco or a bateria will blur the sound. Korino heads sound best when used on a few surdos, but not all. Korino heads are only suitable as batter heads. The construction of the korino on top of the nylon head layer reacts quite sensitively to surdo beaters that are too hard. If the beater head is too hard, the top korino layer will dent and no longer lie flat on the bottom nylon layer, making it unable to produce a consistent tone and causing the head to break. We therefore recommend using only soft or medium-hard but always well-padded beaters on korino heads.

16“ GP3 head for surdo (P3 - 250 Micron: 0,25mm) - GOPE
GP3 heads are thick, single-layered synthetic heads with a saturated sound, medium bass character and very little overtones. They produce a full, strong and almost matt tone due to their thickness and vibration behaviour - thick heads vibrate less than than thin heads. A special feature of the GP3 heads is the distance between the aluminium rim and and the surface of the head which is larger, compared to other brands, meaning that the head will settle well on your instrument shell straight away.
Resonance head or batter head?GP3 heads are ideally used as batter heads. For a resonance head, a thinner option will vibrate stronger and in combination with a GP3 batter head produce a nicer sound.
Give it some time:The life career of a head begins with the moment you put it on your drum for the first time.

Leather head 20'' goat skin with aluminium rim for surdo, alfaia
Information about mounting hide heads:Natural heads tend to twist when they are unmounted due to different air humidity and temperature. When you are ready to put the head on your instrument and see that it is twisted, moisten (not soak!) the head carefully with a kitchen sponge, then put it on a flat surface and push the drum shell in the rim from above. Put your drum loosely back together and wait until the head is dry before putting any tension on it. Let it dry slowly in the air (best overnight), don't use heaters, hairdryers and don't leave it in the sun as it will make the head brittle and prone to tear.
Information for hide heads on aluminium rims:Natural heads tend to twist when unmounted, especially with when temperature and humidity changes. If you have any questions about mounting a head, please contact us.
Purchasing replacement heads:If you are buying a replacement head for your instrument, we advise that you get a head from the same brand as your instrument as they should fit without any trouble. If you buy a head from a different brand, you might find that the fit slightly differs or even doesn't go on the shell well or at all. Please understand that we cannot offer warranty in this case.

Super Nylon high-tec head 14‘’ laminated with Dupont Nomex fibreMedium-thick head made of Dupont Nomex fibre for extra dry, crisp sounds and few overtones. Haptically, the head can be described as somewhere between a coated and a glass fibre head. The surface is slightly textured and feels a bit like paper, which filters unwanted vibrations and takes out overtones. The skin is thin enough to convey nice mids and is suitable for the usual Brazilian street Samba and Samba Reggae as well as for modern styles and funky grooves. Nomex paper from Dupont is a heat-resistant, flame-retardant material used in high-performance applications such as electrical insulation and protective clothing.

16“ nylon head / surdo head by ContemporâneaThe standard 16'' nylon heads from Contemporânea are classical, single-layered surdo heads with a high vibration behaviour, clear and light sound spectrum which can conveniently be used on both surdo sides as superior and/or resonance head. The thickness of your surdo head contributes significantly to the general sound characteristics of your instrument, therefore it is important to know what sound you like and are looking to achieve, and how your surdo shell reacts in combination with the head. A single-layered nylon head is very responsive and intentionally overtone-based, it can be muffled with some tape if desired, it is durable, weatherproof and can be used on both sides as batter or resonance head on a surdo. All these are good reasons why this type of head is so very popular.Single-layered nylon heads are the thinner standard version by Contemporânea and are very responsive with a clear, light sound and intentionally rich in overtones due to their vibrating stronger than thicker heads. The right surdo head defines quite some of the sound quality. Depending on the style you play, a thinner, thicker, inverted or multilayered head is more suitable. In Rio Samba, natural heads produce the authentic Rio Samba sound whilst Samba Reggae people prefer nylon heads.
